There are also rounds, rondelles, cubes, squaredelles, flowers, margerites, top drilled bicones, hearts, and drops. There are also a few vintage heart pendants and large vintage cubes left. Just as the Lost Dutchman did so long ago, you will find "treasure" in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains at AZ Bead Depot. Some of the treasures include semi-precious stones which can be found in Arizona, such as turquoise, amethyst, azurite, fluorite and malachite. We have gemstone beads ranging from A to Z - Amber to ruby Zoisite. Other treasures include Swarovski crystal beads (while supplies last), freshwater and Biwa pearls. Our Czech bead inventory includes a variety of fire polished and seed beads. We have everything from the big 33/0 (pony beads with a large hole) to tiny 14/0. We have African trade beads from Ghana, including Christmas strands and antique "coffee" beads. In addition, we have seeds, tagua nut (also known as vegetable ivory) and bamboo beads from the Colombian Craft Connection. Beadweavers will find nearly 500 colors of Delicas, a small selection of Toho 15/0s as well as about a dozen colors of size 11/0 or 12/0 seed beads in the hard to find "old style" or "traditional" colors. We've got the highly desireable Bead Towers for seed bead storage - perfect for keeping those tubes of beads organized at your fingertips. If you haven't seen one, c'mon in and check them out!
Stop by for a visit and discover that we're truly a "one stop bead shop"!
NEW - NEW - NEW - We are now carrying Preciosa Crystal. These are leaded crystals from the Czech Republic that are machine cut, just like Swarovski crystal. The quality rivals Swarovski at a lower price. We carry "mini-packs" of 144 (3 & 4mm) or 72 (6 & 8 mm) bicones in a wide selection of colors. Per bead, the price is about half the price of Swarovskis. We also have Preciosa roundelles in 12 piece packaging in many colors, including 2 colors with the large holes.
We have added lots of new colors sizes and shapes to our selection of the Chinese "gemstone" and Chinese crystal beads. We also have large hole beads (for the Pandora style bracelets).
If you haven't been to the shop since our lighting was upgraded, be ready for a surprise. The lighting has been changed from the old and dim fluorescent fixtures to new, energy efficient fixtures with full spectrum light bulbs. The difference is remarkable! It's like having the whole store lit with Ott lights. The light is actually bright white instead of yellowish.
For those who do shows, we've added a line of displays, trays, inserts, price tags, carrying cases and other supplies that will make your show experience much easier. Some of these items would even be an attractive way to store or display your personal jewelry at home, too. We also have organza bags and several sizes of gold and silver foil, cotton lined gift boxes, as well as "crystal" plastic gift boxes.
A new service that we've recently added is re-stringing and knotting pearls. Pearls are traditionally knotted on silk thread. Because silk is organic, things like sun, moisture and body oils can tend to make it deteriorate over time. The best way to avoid the disaster of a broken strand of pearls is to have them regularly checked and re-strung and re-knotted about every 8-10 years or so. Bring in your pearls for a free evaluation and estimate.
Want to learn how to bead? We offer classes in silversmithing, art clay silver (PMC), peyote stitch, Philippine weave, beadweaving, kumihimo, wire wrapping, chain maille, metal fabrication, gizmo and fused glass as well as basic stringing/beading techniques. This fall, we've gotten a little "flakey" and are offering a series of classes making snowflakes from Sandra Halpenny's book, Beaded Lace Snowflake Ornaments. (Sandra graciously granted us permission to teach these classes!) Basic beading techniques are taught on YOUR schedule, at YOUR convenience at no charge - as in FREE! (You do pay for materials, but you are welcome to bring in your own beads, findings and tools, regardless of where you got them!) We can do special parties and events, whether it's for Girl Scouts, Red Hats or for a Girl's Night Out!
The store has dedicated classroom/workshop. We have a HUGE library table for beading classes AND we have FOUR torch stations and a jump ringer that you can rent to use in the store, so you don't have to spend the money to buy the equipment, until you are sure it's something you really want to do. You're always welcome to bring a project to work on in the classroom - provided we don't have a class going.
